A Mary Tyler Moore Moment

Nine weeks ago I decided to go back to school. It has been challenging to say the least. But so proud of myself for doing it. I jumped out of my comfort zone big time. lol. I haven't been in school for so long and figures I would forget most everything. Well I did. lol. No not really but some things I have and so many things have changed. I am 37 and I have always wanted to be a Elem. school teacher. I love kids. If you ever read my family blog you would see. lol. I would have 20 kiddos if hubby and I could afford it. lol But we can't. I do dream on winning the lottery though. lol. But getting back to going to school today I finished my finals for my first two classes and start my other two new classes Monday. So as of right now this girl has 6 college credits an I am so proud of myself. lol. I know it doesn't sound like much but it was a big big big step for me to go back to school. I believe if you have it in your heart and have that passion I say go for it if you are thinking about going back to school. Stepping out of your comfort zone can be good and I believe me doing this is a good thing. You just never know what might happen in the future. And I am one of those worry warts that wonder and worry. I want to have something to fall back on for my kiddo's sake and mine. I wanted to share this with you and I am just tickled pink on my first 6 credits. lol. Have a wonderful night!

What A Nice Surprise!

What a wonderful surprise I got in the mail. My friend Chris of Prim Country Farms sent this to me. I love the boxes and my wonderful smellie tarts. I would like to tell you a little about her. She is a fellow Texan like me and also has a big love for Primitive artwork. We ran into each other from several prim groups we belong too. I am so happy and blessed that Chris and I are friends. She has a sense of humor on her that is the best. She also has a blog and shows off some of her primitive work there. Please go and check out her blog. She is really a talented artist. Let me tell ya when I got my box, I was like who sent this to me? I know I hadn't bought anything lately. lol. So I sat down there and opened it up slowly. I seen a note in there and started reading it. What a smile I got. Chris really made my day. I pulled out these beautiful primitive boxes that Chris made. She has old graphics on the top of each lid. I just love them! Thank you Chris so much for your wonderful gifts. I also love the smellies. You really surprised me my friend and I thank you for your kindness. We need more of that in this world today.

Time Flys

I noticed the other day that I haven't posted on this blog in a very long time. I have been so busy with the kids in ball and getting my daughter Josie ready for graduation. She graduates high school this Friday. I cannot believe it. Where has the time gone? Days have literally passed by so fast. I remember the day when she was so short and couldn't look over any counter top and she couldn't close the van's back door. It was so funny. I remember the day she became my daughter and I became her Mother. It was one of the best days of my life. She has been a true blessing to me and I am ever so thankful to God. She is one tough Cookie let me tell ya. She graduates in the top 10th in her class. She is a national honor student and is received the Texas Scholar medal as well. I am so proud of her and so is her Dad. He and I went over the weekend and ordered her cake and we are having pictures put on there. Seeing my kid graduate is emotional to me. Of coarse in a happy way. lol. She is growing up. I will have to post some pictures of her on here in a couple of days. I hope that after everything calms down after graduation and school is out. I can finally pick up again and start crafting. I haven't crafted in awhile. These past few months have been hectic and I have learned some valuable lessons in life this year. I can't get into that one much but let me say this it was an eye opener I really needed. I have tons of new ideas for the fall and winter and I can't wait to get started on them. Well best go. Have a sweet night.

Another Creation

Well I couldn't help myself. I had to start on another doll. lol. This one is not complete as of yet. I have molded her face with paperclay. I wanted to make her look very old. I really like how she turned out. Now its time to make her body and decide on the right material for her dress. So many desicions. lol. I really like working with paperclay. I do have along way to go but I enjoy the feel of it and it is really good therapy to do this. Puts you in a very peaceful mood.
Also with my raggedy ann and andy. I still haven't forgotten about them. I have a special home waiting right now for them. Can't wait to finish them up and send them off. I will post more on this doll. As soon as I get her body ready you will see the next step. Have a great day. Thanks for stoppin by.

Hello Dolly

Today I decided to go through my pile of crafts that I have not finished. Me oh my was it a big pile. I am so ashamed of myself. Especially when I came across Annie that I had started way back. Her faithful friend Andy lay beside her still not sewn together as of yet. But that will change this week because I plan on finishing them both up. She looks so sad without her little dress doesn't she? lol I should be hit. lol. Also I have been going through my patterns and getting them all in order. I decided I am going to start( after I get these done of coarse)a Americana doll and some other stuff. I am looking forward to it. I think that sewing relives stress not build it. Also I will be having a pattern giveaway. I cannot wait. So stay tuned for the pictures of Annie and Andy later this week.
Talk later! ~Dena

I cannot say enough about Edna of Plum Thicket. She is one of the best I have seen when it comes to one of a kind creations on Folkart. I have a few of her sweet patterns and let me tell you they are the best! This pattern here is my all time favorite. What I like the most is her instructions on how to make this doll and also she has a link with her pattern that shows you step by step on how to paint the face. I was thrilled to see that. Since getting this pattern I am so ready to start sewing again. I have been in a crafting slump. But not anymore. lol If you are looking for wonderful easy patterns please go and visit Edna at Plum Thicket Patterns today. She is my favorite artist around!

Remembering When

My Family starting at the left my big sis Teresa (indarkdress) then our sister Karen (Onherbirthday)Our Daddy Travis holding our brother Dewayne and then our beautiful Mother Polly holding me. I was a baby. :O)
I sure do miss my parents and sister Karen. I believe I can speak for my big sis and brother we miss them so very much.
Now do you think my sis Karen had enough desserts for her birthday?
Lucky girl!

My grandfather (Daddy's Daddy) being baptized in Louisiana. My memory is faded in which lake he went too. But I believe Brother Dermin did the baptising. My granddaddy was a good hard working man. He was 40 years old when he passed away from cancer. He was a very young man still. I never got to meet him. But I think of him often and hearing wonderful stories about him has made me feel like I do know him.
The next picture is of my granddaddy W.T. again holding his son on the left Ricky my uncle and his first grandbaby my big sis Teresa. He passed away shortly after this picture was taken. He was so ver proud of his family. They always came first no matter what. He was a very honest man and you could never find the most giving either. He was so kind hearted and loved God.
One thing about my granddaddy you never stepped on his toes though or his families. He didnt put up with it. One of his favorite says was. "There is a good road and a bad road to take, nothing in between those two so you have to choose." So very true.
I miss my family if you can tell. But I am missing them on a good level. Because I know I will see them again. I hope when my big sis sees this she will get a big smile from it. I promise Teresa I will not reveil your age. lol. I want to keep my hair. lol. Kidding of coarse. lol. Yea right! lol.

New Crafts

Lavender~Vanilla Soap
Strawberry Valentines Votive Candles

Orange Clove & Spices Votive Candles

Lemon Verbena Bath Salts.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These are a few things I have been working on this week for my website. I really liked how everything turned out. Plus I have more to put on there. I am really excited about getting my website stocked up better. The votive candles are a 50/50 wax and soy wax. They are highly scented and smell ohhhh soooo good. Also the Orange Clove is highly scented and made 50/50. My bath salts are made with sea salt that is imported from Italy and also Epsom salts. I add concentrated Vit. E and Aloe Vera concentrated oils. Both are very good for the skins and the salts are so good for achy bones. The scents that come in that is Lavender, Red Rose & Thyme, Lemon Verbena, Spearmint/Eucalyptus and more. The Eucalyptus is so good to use for people with sinus problems to colds. Also wonderful to add to you childrens baths as I do for mine. Works great to open those sinus paths up. They come in a 1/2 pint mason jar. Please stop by my main website to look for this items this week. Will be adding more different items really soon. Let me know what you think of my new items today!
Thanks
~*~Dena~*~
Ps. I will also be selling these on here soon!
